Fiberwig - Paint On False Eyelashes

Lately, I’ve been talking a lot about the products that I used on a daily basis. A product that I’ve failed to mention is Fiberwig.

Beyond mascara… it’s paint-on false lashes!

Would you agree that lately there have been SOOO many mascara commercials? Personally, I find it really confusing and it seems like the product themselves aren’t really being sold as much as the commercial itself.

The mascara that I have been using for a little under a year now is called Fiberwig and it’s a product from Japan. I usually do not like resorting to products based from Asia but for this mascara, I think it truly helps Asian girls with their short eyelashes.

A little different than the usual mascara, this one contains double the fiber for dramatic length. Hence, the more you apply, the longer your lashes become. (It’s totally a winning look)

“Made up of two types of extra thin nylon fibers, the short and long fibers intertwine to form a light and smooth film coating that gently surrounds and seals on to your lashes.”

The results of unbelievably long lashes will cause you to think they are false, but it’s real.

I’ve seen a lot of girls with false eyelashes and they look great… but terribly complicated to put on. With Fiberwig, I’ve been able to get the thick eyelash look without the complication or the extra time!

No more Panda-Eyes!
Fiberwig’s light film coating defines and separates each lash while creating a fresh and natural gloss finish. You won’t have to worry about this mascara smearing or smudging with you tear or sweat. This means, you shouldn’t have fear for humid days, sweaty days, or any emotional days where you may find a few tears here and there.

Easy Warm Water Removal
Fiberwig absorbs the warm water and then swells, making it easy to slide off your lashes. When washing your face, simply wet your lashes with warm water, then gently slide off the fibers with your finger and thumb.

This is great because I usually use Purity from Philosophy (Cleansing Soap) and the mascara slides off super quickly!

Like many of the products I recommend, you can find this mascara at your local Sephora store. I bought mine for give or take $20? But it lasts a long time and gives your eyelashes an even longer touch!

M.A.C’s Fab Duo Fiber Brush

I’ve never been one to buy hundreds of brushes for makeup because the cost can add up very easily! I mean, depending on what brand you buy the brush from, each brush can be as little as $30 dollars and go up accordingly from quality, size, and etc.

Actual cosmetologists can afford to invest their money in these products because it is for their career and they will probably use the tools on a daily basis.

One investment I’ve made is buying the M.A.C’s 187 Duo Fiber Brush.

It’s wispy, light, and absolutely wonderful. You can use this brush for liquid and powder foundations, as well as bronzers.

It’s important to put on one base color all over your face because toning it out with other shades of your choice. This brush makes it ever so easy.

Perks about this brush:

  • Light
  • Makes blending really easy
  • Use of pigment straightening is very evident
  • Soft bristles - some from synthetic hair & goat.
  • Easy to add texture
  • Circular - makes blush application very smooth

My daily routine starts out with using Purity by Philosophy and then apply my moisturizers from Estee Lauder. Then I use M.A.C’s Studio Sculpt SPF 15 foundation.

The bristles on this brush are very ideal because there are some that are taller/longer than others. Therefore, when I put the founding on either directly on my face or just the brush, only the tip of the brush applies it.

One of the flaws that I have seen with regular full length brushes is that all the product (foundation liquid or bronzer) gets stuck on the brush and its very wasteful.

I highly recommend this brush, so go to your local Macy’s, Nordstrom, Sephora, or any other department store to check it out!!

COACH SPRING COLLECTION 2011

Any designer bag has it’s own change of collections through out the season. One of the brands that does a great mass marketing advertising campaign is Coach.

Every quarter, I receive a postcard in the mail inviting me a full-line Coach store and with any purchase, I get a 25% off. It’s really great because most of their purses are about $398 anyways, so this means I get a little less than $100 off.

I’ve been visiting their website  to see if there are any new collections that I would be interested it, and I’ve noticed that their color schemes have moved to a more lighter palette.

The Coach Spring Collection 2011 includes the following purses:

  • Kristin - “A spacious and well-organized design in smooth, supple leather accented with lovely chain-link hardware and a delicate Art Deco clasp.”
  • Madison - “A darling new satchel that’s structured yet streamlined, and thoroughly modern—crafted in smooth leather that has a rich sheen and takes color beautifully.”
  • Poppy - “Pretty and lightweight, this take-everywhere tote in shimmery fabric has signature zipper pulls and shiny patent leather for great Poppy style”
  • Colette - “A modern, sophisticated silhouette softened by delicate triple-ring hardware, jewel-like details and an airy logo plaque.”

Coach never fails to give me the sense that their top priority is sophistication. Modernly elegant, the collection almost always reflects the lifestyles of their customers.

Whether you want a fun and flirty wristlet or a practical bag where you can put a lot of stuff in, Coach makes sure that your wants are ultimately heard and give you a product that is better than you could ever imagine.

I have until the end of the month (March 31st) to visit the Coach store and pick something that I want to buy. But they can most certainly count on my business during my spring break for my new Coach Spring collection purse.

LOVE YOUR LIPS; say yes to carrots!

I’ve come to have a real addiction with lip balm. You may be wondering what’s so important about lip balm… but truth be told, it’s because the skin to our lips are so fine and thin that we NEED the extra moisturizing.

Have you ever wondered why our lips are red and pink? It is because the blood supply is directly underneath the skin. This is also why when your lips are too dry and crack, they can often start bleeding because the blood is right there. To prevent this unfavorable, and painful instance of cracked lips, any lip product is better than nothing.

Our lips should not only be concerned with in the winter seasons. In fact, any environmental change can effect the condition of your lips. It is probably smart to find something that includes an SPF of some sort because like the skin on your arms and legs, your lips too are vulnerable and need the protection from the sun.

The following are lip products that I currently use:

  • M.A.C. Lipglass Gloss
  • Yes to Carrots - Various Flavors
  • Burts Bee’s Lip Balm
  • M.A.C. Viva La Glam Lipsticks

Of the four listed above, the Yes to Carrots line is absolutely divine <3

Also known as the “lip butters” these heavenly sticks are organic and give you a powerful burst of flavor. The scent is to die for and it keeps your lips moisturized for quite some time.

Lately, I’ve been putting it on not because I really need to but instead, because I love the way it smells. Some may think that having a carrot flavored lip balm is weird but it’s actually a crossing of mint and rich sweetness that does it for me.

Totally kissable and not too oily, these butter sticks will give you a lip treatment, you will never forget!

Eau de Parfum & Eau de Toilette

Going through all the boxes and labels of my old perfumes, there is actually something that differentiates how long a perfume’s scent can last on you and your clothes. The key words are: PARFUM or TOILETTE.

So I don’t know about you but the French language has never been something that I’ve been super familiar with.

Here are a few major difference between them two:

  • Eau de parfum — literally translates to “water of perfume”. Typically more expensive, this is a perfume that is made with high concentration of perfumed oils compared to water and/or alcohol. A couple drops will last you you the whole night, even if you feel like you can’t smell it anymore — chances are you are just used to it already.
  • Eau de toilette — literally translate to “water of toilet”. These perfume will be less expensive because the water/alcohol content is much higher. The scents of these perfumes do not last as long but this can be good for people that enjoy and prefer the more subtle lightness of a scent.

All the perfumes I’ve always gotten have been Eau de parfum, which proably explains why they’ve been $70+ but they always last for a long time so that justifies the purchase!

I currently have about 4 perfumes/perfumed lotions that I switch around through out the week. Listed by my most frequently worn to least…

  • Lola by Marc Jacobs
  • Poppy by Coach
  • Pure Seduction Lotion by Victoria Secret
  • White Citrus Body Cream by Bath & Body Works

As much as I love all of them, I’m kind of getting a little tired of the scents. Maybe it’s because I wear them so often but I’m thinking that I need some change!

If you are in the market for perfumes, the top websites I would recommend are:

  • Nordstrom
  • Macy’s
  • Sephora

GOOD LUCK & HAPPY SCENTS ALL AROUND :)

HAPPY MARCH!

Happy Happy Happy March, everyone! There’s a lot of great things about March. My birthday, spring break, the warmer weather? I’ll take it!

Most recently, I had an interview with Nordstrom for a Sales Internship and totally got it! Woooo. Can’t wait. It’ll be my first PAID internship (which is almost impossible to find sometimes) and I’ll get an employee discount. Fair enough - I love Nordstrom! I’ve mentioned them a few times in a older posts but it’s a really great department store that has great clothes, shoes, bags, YOU NAME IT!

Anyways, so as you can tell… I’m a huge fan of Nordstrom and have been, more often than usual, catching up on their latest new apparel on their website. My next semi-big purchase for the next season from Nordstrom is probably a trench coat.

Okay, so I know that trench coats can convey a lot of images…

1) Detective - You know… kind of mysterious. Looking for trouble or better yet solving murderers and that sort of thing.

2) The Old Man that wears nothing BUT a trench coat. GROSSSS….

3) The very stylish woman that is in the city wearing a light, fresh, trench coat that could be either going to work, lunch with friends, or happy-power shopping for herself.

The one I’m most interested in is #3!

I’ve always really liked trench coats. But I’ve never gone in to actually buy one. A couple months ago, say - October? I found one at this boutique called Francesca’s (totally overrated now because they are EVERYWHERE) and tried on the khaki colored one. It was double breasted, had a good length, and very light. I should have just bought it then, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to buy it in October and not wear it until Spring of 2011.

Right, so going back to my point. Nordstrom. Trench Coats. Yes.

I got an e-mail a couple days ago about some trench coats being on sale and start at $98. So I went on the website and picked out a couple of my favorites.

MICHAEL - Michael Kors Double Breasted All Weather Jacket -$98

Miss Sixty Skirted Trench - $98

STUDDLY & KILLER

The new Lorissa Peep Toe Pumps are surely the eye catcher. Threatening or intimidating? Some girls just live their lives on the fast lane and enjoy the extra attention.

Sam Edelman welcomes this new shoe in it’s 2011 Spring Line. With all the good weather we’ve been getting in Chicago, maybe its time to whip out those bad boys and give them a walkin’.

Brushed along the whole back heel and the surrounding sides, this heel is deemed to me a big impression. The silver cone studs are distributed with an edgy tone with sparkly, glitzy, and glamorous rhinestones.

These Lorissa Pumps come in 7 different colors and materials.

  • Black Leather
  • Nude Leather
  • Light Blue Leather
  • Pewter Tan Leather
  • Truffle Leather
  • Black Suede
  • Off White Leather

The most popular one I’ve seen is black, which is original and totally classic.

Don’t be afraid that these heels will leave people thinking that you are boring or unoriginal, because these aggressive loud heels will do exactly the opposite.

Sam Edelman’s shoes are widely popular in Hollywood.

You can find their big fanlist including:

  • Jennifer Lopez
  • Vanessa Hudgens
  • Katherine Heigl
  • Rachel Bilson
  • Ashley Tisdale

Here, fashionista Kimora Lee Simmons shows off her Lorissa Pumps.

I actually haven’t tried on these heels yet, but I’ve read from other customers’ reviews that they run pretty true to size.

Now, if you have a wider set of feet like myself, testing these heels before you purchase them may be smart.

Nordstrom, my all-time favorite store EVER, will have these pumps in stock in the next month. However, if you find that these shoes are totally you, there is the option to pre-order them on the Nordstrom shoe website.

For any other inquiries about this specific shoe, you can find more about them on the Sam Edelman shoe website or just research other blogs because it’s definitely been getting lots of buzz. And while you’re at the Sam Edelman site? Check out their new Spring 2011 collection - it’s too die for.

What will I do? Definitely put them on my birthday list - there’s not doubt about that!

slow down, loehmanns!

Loehmanns. The ‘IT’ store for designer fashion has been notably closing their stores all across the nation. Specifically in the Chicago-land area, the State Street location has closed down.

A little bit outside of the actual city, the Oakbrook location closed its store a little earlier and that is when the significant number of closings caught my attention.

I’m sure there are a number of you that have heard of Loehmanns, but for the people that have not partaken in this most gracious gift in the high end - fashion label world - it’s absolute worth your penny and time.

I first heard of this store a couple of years ago from my roommate. There, they have very affordable tops, bottoms, outerwear and etc. from various brands such as:

  • Juicy Couture
  • BCBG Maxazria
  • Michael Kors
  • Romeo & Juliet Couture
  • Theory
  • & much more!

People would be able to clothes that were at least 40% off the original manufacturer’s price. It’s very much like a Nordstrom Rack except it’s not as good – in my book at least.

Something that I have been wondering is why exactly all these locations are closing? Has Loehmanns lost it’s touch and appeal to the public? Is their inventory not in sync with their target market?

One theory I had about why the State Street location might have closed, is the high tax rates. Chicago shopping is already pretty bizarre – so why would people come all the way to the city to buy something they could get in the suburbs for cheaper?

As I mentioned before, Loehmanns is very similar to Nordstrom Rack and with that said there was recently a new Rack store off the Chicago stop. I believe that this is very possible that it had a negative effect on the Loehmanns at State St.

What do all of you think?

REAL HOUSEWIVES: real fashion

Let me begin by saying that I’m a HUGE fan of Bravo’s The Real Housewives series.

There’s just something about their grand homes, luxurious jewelry, lavish parties, conniving & back stabbing friends that keeps me coming back for more each week.

I’d have to say that my favorite housewife series is the Beverly Hills one, which stars:

  • Taylor Armstrong
  • Lisa VanderPump
  • Adreienne Maloof
  • Kim Richards
  • Kyle Richards
  • Camille Grammer

For anyone who’s followed the show throughout the season, they would agree that each character has their own distinctive style.

Today I will talk about one of my absolute favorite characters and that is Kyle Richards. She is a mother of four daughters and also the sister of former child star Kim Richards and Kathy Richards, mother of Paris and Nicky Hilton.

I love her blunt personality but also her sensitivity and responsible side when it comes to her family and friends.

When I watched the reunion show the other day, I was not at all surprised to see Kyle sport tear drop earrings, as those seem to be her favorite. All throughout season 1, she made her love for Jennifer Miller’s Green Emerald Teardrop Earrings very noticeable!

As you can see, the earrings add a great sense of contrast against her long hair. I personally really like it when the earrings are on when her hair is up because she has an excellent bone structure the earrings play with it very well.

She is not the only one that has these earrings, as Kelly Ripa tweeted that Kyle sent her a pair of the faux earrings after being on the Regis & Kelly Show.

Unless you are waiting for Kyle to send you a pair of these glitzy earrings, you can buy your own pair at http://jennifermillerjewelry.com.

NAIL DECOS… here to stay or go?

A couple weeks ago, I was out shopping when I saw this girl with the most interesting nails I had ever seen. Watching her nails file through the clothes on the rack was painful and disturbing. I mean, they looked good and all but I was afraid she would chip them or even break them.

I left the store with all the clothes I had purchased and looked at my own nails. Clearly, unpolished and in deep need of a manicure I thought, what if I had nails like her?

I went home and started doing some research to see if this was something that was becoming more popular.

I was surprised to see that there were tutorials and video blogs about these nail decorations. There was one specifically that inspired me to write a post about these up and coming nail decos.

What I am about to show you may inspire you to go on and create little masterpieces yourselves or absolutely drive you away from doing such a thing.

These pictures are not of the nails of the girl I saw a couple weeks ago but instead from Preposterously’s Nails wordpress.

Personally, I think that its a great way to incorporate artistic values into nails, as you don’t see this very often. It could also add a little something to an outfit or occasion.

But at the same time, they look awfully painful and inconvenient for people who have very active routines. Is it worth it?

Items you will need to prepare for this nail project:

  • Clay Roses
  • Pearls
  • Small Rhinestones
  • Sparkly Nail Polish
  • Adhesive Glue - Optional (You can actually just use clear nail polish)

Again, these nail creations are NOT by me. You can see more creations by visiting http://preposterously.wordpress.com/
